Financial Dynamics’ Ricky Lafon Earns CFP® Credential
Virginia native has provided financial planning at Midlothian firm for over 5 years.
The mark is one of the highest-regarded credentials in the financial services industry, given its rigorous requirements for education, experience, and ethics. Only 25% of financial advisors have the certification.
“I cannot tell you how excited I was the day I received news that I’d passed the exam,” Lafon said. “Becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional has been a dream of mine for years now, as it allows me to better serve clients.”
The six-hour exam comes as the culmination of a comprehensive course of study that includes financial planning principles, investments, taxes, retirement savings, income planning, and estate planning.
Isaac Wright, ChFC®, President of the Midlothian financial advisory firm, said Lafon studied nights and weekends to earn the credential on top of being a full-time advisor, husband, and father.
“Ricky is a dedicated, committed professional. I had no doubt he would achieve this goal, and I’m celebrating along with him now that the hard work paid off,” Wright said.
He added: “The CFP® credential is an indicator of not only a financial advisor’s education and experience, but their ethics too. Ricky must serve as a fiduciary to clients at all times, which complements our responsibility to serve as good stewards of our clients’ money.”
A lifelong resident of Virginia, Lafon started working at Financial Dynamics & Associates over five years ago. In addition to the CFP® mark, he has the Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) credential and an MBA from Liberty University.
He also is a dedicated volunteer at his church, assisting with community and leadership programs.
Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. owns the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, CFP® (with plaque design) and CFP® (with flame design) in the U.S., which it awards to individuals who successfully complete CFP Board’s initial and ongoing certification requirements.
